Tournament Control has received word that High C’s has boated a 101-inch blue marlin and is headed to the scales. The estimated time of arrival is 4 p.m.
There has been reports of several other billfish caught and released as well. Sherry Polk, fishing aboard Share-E, released a blue marlin yesterday, as did Bushwhacker. Jason Walker released another blue marlin earlier this morning. Walker is fishing aboard Patience.
Sultrap has found a hot bite. Nick Froletch and Strom Smith each released white marlin this morning.
The weigh scales open at 3 p.m and remain open until 9 p.m. Friday. Boats can continue to fish until Saturday afternoon and must be in line at the scales before 9 p.m. to weigh their catch. The scales, located at the Point Cadet Marina behind the Isle Casino Hotel, are open to the public.
Blue marlin must measure at least 100 inches to be weighed. Blues smaller than that, along with white marlin and sailfish, count for release points on a sliding scale.
Tuna, wahoo and dolphin comprise the game fish divisions. Eligible fish must weigh at least 20 pounds to score points.
