Included as part of the $6,000 base entry fee, the team with the heaviest yellowfin tuna at the end of the tournament which breaks the existing Mississippi state record (currently 205.8 pounds) will win $100,000 from the Classic. If the new record fish is caught aboard a Freeman catamaran, it’ll be worth yet another $100,000 from Freeman. So if all parameters are met, the new record yellowfin tuna would earn an overall $200,000 payout on the base entry alone.

The catch must be made according to tournament rules and the  Mississippi Department of Marine Resources Saltwater Fishing Record Rules. Teams can also enter up to four optional swordfish divisions ($500, $1000, $2500 and $5,000) for a shot at more big money if they choose. Teams will depart Point Cadet Marina on Thursday June 7, 2018 at noon and must return within the designated markers by 8pm, Saturday June 9, 2018.  The fishing boundaries are the Gulf of Mexico.
