Angler Rocky Jones of Pensacola, fishing aboard Reel Addiction, has released two blue marlin and one white marlin today, putting him in the unofficial lead in the release division.

Tico Time called in to tournament control to report a 109-inch blue marlin aboard. The boat is out in the Green Canyon area and wouldn’t make it back in time before the scales close at 11 p.m., so the crew opted to stay out and continue fishing.

Eric Carr, fishing aboard Patron, weighed the first yellowfin tuna of the 2011 event. Carr’s yellowfin tipped the scales at 76.5 pounds.

Patron is the early leader in the blue marlin division after just weighing in a fish at 702.5 pounds. Cole Casady was the angler.
